It was a sad day for beer lovers when Swallow closed down Ward's brewery. There had been talk of a management buy out, but worker's jobs and drinkers are the last people to be considered in these circumstances, and it was not to be.
This was a sad end to a brewery that graced the skyline of Ecclesall Road since the middle of the 19th century, more than 20 years before Wards moved into it.
