The Victoria Hotel, or Victoria Gardens as it was once known was badly damaged by the great flood of 1864. The rear and much of the inside was washed away. The pub was rebuilt and lasted another 100 years, serving Wards beers to the local workmen.
The pub has closed but the building survives as a Hydraulics company offices.
