The original Cross Guns was a Victorian Gilmours house on the corner of Sharrow Lane and Franklin Street. At the other side of the junction stood Stone's Franklin Hotel.
In the 1960's this area was redeveloped and both pubs disappeared along with Franklin Street. The Cross Guns was replaced by a new pub built a few yards from the original. This building remains but is now called Tuxedo Blue.
