I nearly fell over when I saw the sign saying Truro Tavern. This is not however the original, but a new pub in an old building. The "old" Truro Tavern stood round the corner opposite the Royal Standard, and was swept away years ago in a road widening scheme.
The original was a small Tennant's house, and the only pub that I have been in where the landlady cooked chips on the bar!
It may not have been slick enough for the modern wine bar set, but it was a proper pub. I hope that the new one measures up.
