Talbot Inn. 40 Hoyle Street

The Talbot was a good honest local for most of its life. Like most of the pubs in the area it dated from the mid Victorian period. Like many when the local housing disappeared it closed. However this was not the end of the Talbot, and it soon re-opened as the Good Doctor.

This reincarnation involved several handpumps and a full range of Tim Taylor's beers. It attracted people from out of the area, and had quite a following with the real ale crowd. For no apparent reason its name changed again to the Old Toad, but the theme remained the same.

Unfortunately a new road scheme forced its closure, and I believe its site is occupied by a traffic island.
