The Railway Inn at Dronfield was a beer house for around 230 years.
Situated opposite the Old Sidings, this two roomed beer only house was originally much smaller. Extensions over the years increasing its capacity. It is remembered affectionately as " The Tap".
There were never beer pumps installed. When time was finally called around 1960, beer was still being served from a jug.
The building was used for a number of years as a wood working shop, but then fell derelict. It has now been restored, and is known as Tap Cottage. The beer cellar is still intact beneath the living room floor.
