Pheasant Inn. 436 Attercliffe Road

Although the current building only dates from the mid 1920s, an inn has stood here for at least 3 centuries. The original building called the Arrow is said to be the location of the gibbet where Spence Broughtons body was displayed for 30 years. Whether the name was changed or a new building errected is unclear but throughout the 19th century the inn was known as the Pheasant, until it was removed to make way for the current building.

The name has once again been changed and this historic pub is now known as the Stumble Inn.
