There must be more pubs in Sheffield named The Norfolk Arms than any other.
Old photographs of this Norfolk Arms are inevitably dominated by the Tempered Spring works behind. Their large neon sign towering above the roof of the pub despite its 3 stories.
The fortunes of the pub and company were intertwined. Most of the pubs customers coming from the nearby works.
Current pictures do not shown Tempered Spring Co Ltd. because it has been demolished. With no local trade to buy its excellent Tetley Bitter the pub fell into decline and closed during the 80s.
The Norfolk Arms was never the most salubrious establishment. After closure it became a cafe. Now it operates as a sauna.
