Neepsend Tavern. 144 Neepsend Lane

The Neepsend Tavern was opened in 1839, 2 years after Queen Victoria came to the throne. It served beer to the thirsty drinkers of Neepsend for 135 years until it closed in 1974. 110 years earlier it had been badly damaged by the wave of water that came down the Don Valley after the bursting of the Dale Dyke Dam.

The old pub still stands but no longer serves beer. It is now operating as a sauna.
