Built in the mid 19th century, The Royal Lancers was one of many pubs with a military theme built in this area, probaly as a result of The Hillsborough Barracks further along the road.
It was once a scruffy looking Tetley's house, but it closed in 1988, becoming a double glazing company's offices. It is now called Lancer House and looks far cleaner than it did when it was a pub, although I have a few doubts about the scull and cross bones.
