This old Tennant's house was built around 1870 and was one of dozens built to serve the local industrial community.
It was a typical two roomed pub with a public bar and a "best" room. It survived on lunchtime business from local industry after the mass clearance of surrounding houses. After the industry also moved the pub closed. Last orders were called in 1993 when the pub was demolished.
