The original Museum public house dates from 1790, and was a popular watering hole. It became a popular real ale outlet as the town centre turned to fizz.
Access was through a narrow entry at the left side of the building which gave access to the various drinking areas. The current building is unrecognisable inside.
Now known as the Hog's Head, it retains a good range of beers, but has a reputation of being pricey.
