The current building is post war. It was built by Ward's to replace the previous Hermitage that was badly damaged in air raids in December 1940. It was also Wards first managed house, as they had previously relied entirely on tennant landlords.
The internal layout is somewhat strange. It is a typically modern "open" design, but also features an upstairs drinking area.
It has recently started trading as Harvey's Bar. The exterior design was never a classic, it now looks somwhat messy.
