This odd shaped pub dates from 1868 and was one of many built in the area when the steel industry was expanding rapidly. Most of the pubs have now gone, most that do survive seem to be around Gower Street.
The pub has changed its name a couple of times over the years. It has been known as the Rovers Rest as well as the Rovers Return.
