Situated as it is on a bridge over the Don, the Farfield took the full brunt of the Sheffield Flood of 1864, and was all but washed away.
The pub was rebuilt and still survives, unlike most of the others along Neepsend Lane. It has endured several name changes, and has been known as the Owl and the Muff Inn. Happily it is now back to the Farfield.
