Although the present building is not very old, the Dove & Rainbow is one of Sheffield's oldest public houses. It stood on Watson's Walk, a footpath that linked Hartshead to Angel Street. Watson's Walk was home to 3 pubs, but a huge fire in 1782 destroyed the Dove and Rainbow, which was later rebuilt.
In 1958 the area was redeveloped and the road widened. A new Dove and Raindow was built next door to the old building which was demolished.
