Years ago the Crosspool Tavern was a beerhouse that doubled up as a knife marers shop. The building was right up to the road. In 1930 there were two Crosspool Taverns, as the current building was opened immediately behind the original. The old building was demolished soon afterwards.
The pub has received major rebuilding in recent years.
