Years ago there was a pub called the Bridge at Washford Bridge on Attercliffe Road. On December 12th 1940 an air raid badly damaged the bridge as well as the pub. For a short time afterwards the Bridge struggled on as a single storey building, but was demolished to be replaced by the current building in the early 1950s.
The Bulldog was very much a child of its time with the distinctive tiles beneath the windows.
The pub closed a few years ago and re-emerged as the Bar-celona.
