Boston Hotel. 10 Lansdowne Road

Across the road from the Locarno on London Road stood two pubs. This was the junction with Lansdowne Road which has long since disappeared in road alterations. The two rivals were the Lansdowne Hotel and Stone's Boston Hotel.

On this junction was a small roundabout with a police box and it was a favorite place for Sheffield's soap box orators such as Alf Marples. No doubt the political debate would continue over a few pints of "fighting" in the Boston afterwards.

Unfortunately both pubs are now gone. The Boston demolished in the early 1960s, the Lansdowne in 1988.
