The Bath Hotel was built over the Birley Spa in the early part of Victoria's reign. The top floor was a hotel and public house, whilst the bath was on the ground floor.
It fell from favour towards the end of the 19th century and became derelict. Efforts are now being made to preserve and restore the only remaining Victorian baths in South Yorkshire.
