A H Smiths was once one of Sheffield's largest brewers, providing beers for up to 100 pubs between 1832 and 1916, when they were taken over by Tennant's. For years the old moulded sign graced Tennant's sign painting shop. When this last vestige of the brewery was demolished, the sign was move a few yards to a new location outside the Globe Works.
