The Acorn is a stone built house that became a pub in the first half of the 19th century. The building itself was probably a farmhouse before this time, and beer making and selling was adopted as a side line. Certainly the Acorn symbol was one used over the years to signify fresh ale.
The pub is noted for its array of hanging baskets from spring onwards.
